Pierre Tennis Finishes 2-1 in Sioux Falls to Open Season

The Pierre Tennis team opened the season in Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday and while the rain canceled the second match on Friday, Pierre finished at 2-1 on the weekend.

The Governors were only able to win one match against Lincoln falling 8-1 on Friday but came back to sweep both Washington and Roosevelt with two 9-0 victories. The duel against Harrisburg will hopefully be rescheduled at some point in the season for ESD seeding.

Marlee Shorter and Gracie Zeeb in doubles three were the only winners in the Lincoln matchup but Sydney Tedrow, Shorter, Karra Weiss , Jocelyn Corrales, Caitlin Ott and Carissa Ott all won the singles matches against Roosevelt and Washington. Tedrow and Weiss, Corrales and Caitilin Ott both won the two doubles matches along with Shorter and Zeeb winning all three of its doubles matches.

The Governors will be in Rapid City to take on Brandon Valley and Stevens on Thursday before playing in the Rapid City Central Invite on Friday and Saturday.
