Pierre Golf Finishes in Fifth Place After Two Day Event

The Pierre Governor golf team finished its two day trip to Brandon and Sioux Falls on Tuesday as the team took fifth place with Nick Bothun finishing as the best Gov, tied for 10th place overall.

On Tuesday, the Govs shot a 322 which was actually seventh on the day but overall finishing in fifth place just four strokes behind Mitchell for fourth. Nick Bothun finished with a total of 155, 14 over par, just 12 shots behind Bennett Geraets of Sioux Falls Lincoln, the individual winner of the event. Luke Olson finished tied for 21st with a 161, Jack Bartlett and Lincoln Houska each shot a 164 which was tied for 28th, Sawyer Sonnenschein shot a 167, good for 32nd and Dawson Getz shot a 177, which was tied for 49th. All six Governors were in the top 50 of 88 golfers in total.

Head Coach Chris Swiden says last year they shot a combine 698 while this year it was a 642. A 56 stroke difference in a year is a huge improvement for the Governor team, especially to start the season. Pierre will have its home course invite next, on Tuesday, August 24 from Hillsview Golf Course.
