The Pierre Governor golf team began its season on Monday and would swing its way to a fourth place team finish. Luke Olson would have the best finish for the Governors at a 77, five shots off the lead and six over par.
As a team Pierre finished at 319 which was 23 shots behind Sioux Falls Lincoln at 297. The Patriots were only 13 cumulative shots over par and beat O’Gorman, the second place team, by 12 shots. Also for the Governors, Nick Bothun placed in the top ten, tied for ninth, a shot behind Olson at 78. Jack Bartlett was 11 over par at 82 and Sawyer Sonnenchein shot an 83 to round out the top four for the Governors. Lincoln Houska and Dawson Getz were at 85 and 92 respectively but were not factored into the scoring.
The Governors will play its second consecutive day at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls beginning at 8:00 AM.
