Chip And Fog Sealing Projects Coming This Week To Pierre Area Highways

PIERRE — The South Dakota Department of Transportation is planning a number of chip sealing projects on highways in the Pierre area starting this week. Five highways will see chip sealing done. Crews will start one then move to the others. First up is 10 miles of Highway 20 from Highway 47 east to the Potter County line. That work should take two days to finish. Work will move to U-S Highway 14 for 24 miles from Fort Pierre west. The Highway 14 project should take six days total for chip and fog sealing. Highway three is South Dakota Highway 73 from Highway 34 at Billsburg and south for 11 and a half miles. Just over 17 miles of Highway 44 will be chip and fog sealed from Highway 73 east to Highway 63 for a total of four day. The last project is shoulder work on Highway 73 for 13 and a half miles from Highway 14 to Interstate-90 for one day. Two lane routes will be reduced to one lane with pilot cars and flaggers in use. Loose gravel will be present for up to three days after work is completed. Speeds will be posted at 40 miles per hour in impacted areas.
