PIERRE — Work will start Friday August 13 along U-S Highway 14/83 from South Dakota Highway 1804 to just east of the U-S Highway 83 north junction in Hughes County. Asphalt resurfacing will run for 15 miles from mile marker 230 to 245. Work will include milling and asphalt concrete resurfacing. Erosion and pipe repair are also being done along the 15 mile segment. Milling will start immediately on Friday and before leveling and strengthening operations. The top lift will be made with a special asphalt mix used to increase the longevity of the pavement. Work on four-lane sections of the highway will be done with lane closures. Flaggers and pilot cars will be used on two-lane sections. The contractor for the project plans to have all of the referenced operations done by mid-September. The project completion date for the four-point-two million dollar project is late July of next year.
