Van Camp Seizes Second Opportunity at College Baseball

The 2020 summer season ended for Jack Van Camp in Rapid City as Pierre Post 8 was defeated by Brandon Valley in the state semifinal. Van Camp graduated from Pierre and was off to the University of Nebraska for just schooling. With one year of eligibility left, Van Camp returned to pitch for Post 8 in 2021 as one of two super seniors. Now, Van Camp will pitch for Iowa Central after signing earlier this month.

Throughout the year, Van Camp was dominant, leading the team in appearances while being second on the team in innings pitched and wins. Van Camp struck out 59 batters in 41 innings and finished the year with an ERA of 1.20 and WHIP of 1.29. The performances he had opened some eyes around colleges and even for Van Camp who decided to give the college game a chance. He says it’s his last chance to go play college baseball…

Van Camp will report in the fall to Iowa Central as the Triton have added Jonas Lovin as the new pitching coach.
