FORT THOMPSON — A two-vehicle crash in Buffalo County has killed a 17-year-old female. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened Sunday around 7:33 PM 14 miles northeast of Fort Thompson on 349th Avenue. Preliminary information about the crash indicates a Chevy Equinox was traveling north on 349th while a Dodge Ram pick-up was southbound. The vehicles collided into each other at the crest of a hill. The 17 year-old driving the Equinox was transported to a Chamberlain hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was using a seat belt. Three male occupants were in the pick-up. A 78 year-old suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. A 77 year-old suffered minor injuries. A 68 year-old passenger suffered life threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Wessington Springs, and then transferred by air to a Sioux Falls hospital. The names of those involved are being held until families have been notified.
