Don’t let the Pierre Governor Golf team fool you. While, the kids are still young, they will be bringing back loads of experience, especially after the summer South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour. The tour ended with the Championship in Brandon on Monday and Tuesday as two Pierre Governors finished in the top two spots.
In the 14-15 division, Nick Bothun shot a 154 in the two day event which was 12 over par for the tournament winning first place over his teammate Sawyer Sonnenschein who was just one stroke behind him at 155. Luke Olson was eighth from Pierre while Jack Bartlett was 17th and Lincoln Houska was 19th. Bothun shot a 77 both days which was tied for the best score of any golfer on a day. Head Coach of the Pierre Governor golf team, Chris Swiden says it’s a testament to how hard all five are working…
And Swiden says this should give the Governor team a lot of confidence…
KCCR Sports will hear from Swiden again next week as the golf team’s first practice is Monday, August 9.
