Post 8 Can’t Hang on to Lead, Season Ends with Loss to Renner

Pierre Post 8 built up an early 6-1 lead over Renner in the state semifinal on Monday but Renner would make a run and win 7-6, eliminating Pierre from the state tournament.

Elliot Leif started the scoring in the second with a two RBI single to centerfield. An error in the top of the third scored Lincoln Kienholz and Cade Hinkle nearly hit his second home run of the tournament hitting the bottom of the fence to score another and Pierre was up 4-0 after the top of the third. However, Renner would start to make its move with a sacrifice fly by Sam Stukel to make it 4-1. Bennett Dean would add a sacrifice fly RBI in the top of the fifth and another Renner error scored Pierre’s six run to go up by five, but a five run fifth tied the game before two errors on the same play on a steal attempt in the bottom of the sixth sealed the fate for the Eights, losing 7-6 finishing the season at 26-19.
