PIERRE — A 19 year-old Pierre man is arrested Monday night following an incident involving a knife. Pierre Police Department Captain Bryan Walz says officers responded to a reported assault around 10:15 pm in the 700 block of East Wells Avenue. Officers discovered through their investigation that an argument had taken place between 19 year-old Chad RedElk and a person RedElk is in a relationship with. During the argument, RedElk is reported to have assaulted the other party with a knife, cutting the victim multiple times. Officers located RedElk at a second residence in the 1900 block of East Park Avenue. RedElk fled from officers as they attempted to take him into custody. RedElk was transported to the Hughes County Jail on five charges including Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence, Obstructing an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Underage Purchase or Possession of Alcohol and an undisclosed bench warrant.
