Post 8 Baseball Opens State Tournament in Brandon

After sweeping Yankton last weekend in the Region Round, Pierre Post 8 will open up the state tournament on Friday against the Renner Royals in Brandon.

The Eights head into the tournament at 24-17 on the season and this year’s tournament is wide open. Most coaches throughout legion baseball agree the possibility of anybody going through the tournament and winning the state title. Pierre and Renner faced off at the very beginning of the season, the first game of the summer for Pierre. It was a 6-1 win for the Royals behind a complete game by Sam Stukel. Reece Arbogast and Austin Henry will be available to be the probable starter for Renner. A win in the first round can lead to a deeper run in the tournament.

Post 8 Manager, Brian White, says they are excited for this tournament…

With the tournament wide open, White says if you play well, you give yourself a shot…

And White says to take the approach of one pitch at a time…

The Eights will play at 5:30 tonight in the third game of the day. Watertown and Sioux Falls East will open the tournament at 11:00 AM followed by Sioux Falls West and Rapid City Post 22 at 1:30. Brandon Valley and Harrisburg will conclude the night after the Eights game. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:10 on KCCR, kccradio.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Greg Dean on the call.
