Pierre Police Release Details Of July 5th Standoff

PIERRE — The Pierre Police Department is releasing information on an incident that resulted in a Pierre man’s arrest on July 5th. The call for service happened in the 4300 block of Sandwedge Drive around 10:30 pm. Captain Bryan Walz with the Pierre Police Department says officers responded to a report of a firearm being discharged in a home on Sandwedge Drive. As officers arrived on scene, they made phone contact with the man reported to have been firing the weapon, identified by police as 60 year-old Severin Boe of Pierre. Police then began negotiating with Boe. While that was happening, law enforcement worked to evacuate homes in the area until the situation was resolved. Police negotiated with Boe for nearly an hour and 20 minutes before Boe was taken into custody. Boe is facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm while Intoxicated. Boe is being held in the Hughes County Jail on a 35-thousand dollar cash bond.
