Pierre Trappers Down Early, Fall to Western Nebraska

The Western Nebraska Pioneers picked up a two game sweep of the Pierre Trappers with a 14-6 win behind a three run first inning and a five run fourth.

The Pioneers never trailed in the game as they plated three runs in the first inning as Jared Mezzaferro tripled home two runs in the top of the fourth and Cade Magee hit a two run bomb to power the Pioneers to a 10-3 lead. But the Trappers continued to fight back, but it wasn’t enough as Garret Hill drove in a team high two runs in the loss as the Trappers fell to now 1-5 to open up the second half of the season.

Pierre will open up a series against the Hasting Sodbusters on Friday followed by a doubleheader on Saturday and closing out the series on Sunday, all at Hyde Stadium. First pitch on Friday is at 7:05.
