Pierre City Commission Approves The Seeking Of Bids For Substantial Dirt Work For Outdoor Pool

PIERRE — The City of Pierre is seeking bidders to move a lot of dirt to make way for a new municipal swimming pool. Parks Director Tom Farnsworth says extensive examination of the soils in Griffin Park needed to be conducted before the project moves forward…

Dwayne Webking with Burbach Aquatics, the company designing the pool, says the location of the pool to the Missouri River will play a large role in preparing the site for constructing the pool…

Webking says the pool will need a significant foundation below the compressed good soils being added…

The dirt work is planned to begin in August so the good soils can be compressed over the winter. Next spring the six feet of cover soils will be removed and construction can begin with substantial completion of the pool in the spring of 2023 and in time to accept water from Pierre’s new drinking water treatment plant.
