Fort Pierre To Loosen Water Restrictions Over 4th Of July Holiday

FORT PIERRE — Water restrictions remain in place along the Mni Wiconi Water System going into the Independence Day holiday weekend. The City of Fort Pierre is changing its restrictions. The new guideline went into effect at noon on Thursday. For lawn and garden watering Fort Pierre is using an odd/even schedule with odd numbered homes watering on odd days and even numbered homes on even numbered days. Watering should be done to avoid the hottest parts of the day. Residents will be permitted to use water for routine activities, but things like washing vehicles or watering off schedule are not allowed. Starting at midnight on July 4th full restrictions will be restored so water supplies can be refilled. When full restrictions are put in place again, customers will be asked to limit water usage with lawn and garden watering prohibited. Permanent repairs are schedule to run from July 6th to July 8th.
