Pierre Post 8 hung tough against Brandon Valley on Tuesday on the road as they earned a split falling in game one 7-1 but winning game two 1-0.
The Eights only scored twice in two games but thanks to Jack Van Camp in game two, they didn’t need any more. In game one, Bennett Dean worked his way around jams in each of the first four innings allowing just one run while Pierre took advantage of one of the three errors in total of game one from Brandon Valley scoring its lone run on soft pop up behind the first baseman. However, Brandon Valley would score six times in the fifth and sixth including Logan Kelling picking up two separate two RBI hits to lead the Lynx to victory in game one.
Cade Hinkle, in the top of the first inning brought home Jayden Wiebe on a two out, RBI single to give Post 8 all it needed in the second game as Van Camp was near untouchable. He took a no hitter into the fourth inning and threw a complete game three hit shutout. Only one walk and one error for just five men to reach base in total as Van Camp struck out 10 in the ballgame for the Eights in a much needed second game win.
