In the final series of the first half of the season, the Pierre Trappers were unable to charge a comeback in the opener as they fell 11-6 to the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs, in Minot.
Joseph Bramanti hit his third home run of the season in the top of the fourth giving Pierre a 2-0 lead but in the bottom of the fourth, two bases loaded walks along with a dropped third strike brought in all three runs for the Sabre Dogs taking its first lead and held on to it adding two runs in the fifth and sixth and then scoring four times in the seventh. Pierre tried to inch back in the ball game as Colin Adams hit a three run bomb, his third of the season to pull Pierre to 11-5 but it was too little too late for the Trappers as they are now 9-19 on the season as the win also sealed the division for the Sabre Dogs in the first half of the season.
Pierre and Souris Valley will play again on Wednesday as they have a first pitch scheduled for 7:05 in Minot.
