South Dakota United 15U Win Regional Tournament, Head for Nationals

Over the last weekend, South Dakota United, a soccer club that has multiple teams made of mostly South Dakota players traveled to Chicago for the Midwest Regional Tournaments. The 15U girls team took home first place and has qualified for the National Tournament in July.

Pierre is well represented on this year’s team with Ryann Barry, Gracelyn Taylor, Brianna Sargent and Ireland Templeton. All four played major roles on the Pierre Governor varsity team last season.

South Dakota did not lose a game on the way to the championship as they had a 1-1 draw in the first match against Indiana followed by a 2-1 win over the Stars and shellacking Chicago 5-1 to finish out pool play. South Dakota would win the semifinal game 2-1 before finishing the championship off with a 1-0 shutout tow in the regional and advance to the National tournament in July in Colorado.

DeBoer says this leads to bigger things for this state as it continues to grow over the last decade…
