Post 8 Baseball Heads for Dakota Classic over Weekend

Post 8 baseball will be in Sioux Falls all weekend as they play in the Dakota Classic beginning Friday night and rolling pool play through Sunday morning.

The Eights are coming in at 10-6 on the year after having its eight game winning streak snapped in the latest game in the backend off a doubleheader to Rapid City Post 22 Hardhats. It’s just the second time the Eights will be out of town this summer and the first time they will play out of state competition that doesn’t factor into the seed point standings. Pierre faces Wayzata, Minnesota Friday, Norfolk, Nebraska on Saturday and Jackson, Minnesota on Sunday.

Post 8 manager Brian White knows going in the importance of the Saturday night game, against Sioux Falls West. It’s the one contest of the four game guarantee that is crucial for a win. While the Eights will be looking for a win in every game, the pitching stems from facing West, needing a win to help with seed points.

If the Eights win the pool they will face the Harrisburg pool winner in Harrisburg Sunday night at 5:00. If the Eights are successful in both winning the pool and winning the Sunday night game they will head to Augustana to play on Monday at 9:00 in the semifinal with the championship game of the tournament played at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Friday and Saturday games will be on KCCR, kccrradio.com and available to watch on YouTube at KCCR Sports with the Sunday morning game to be on Capital City Rock but still on YouTube at KCCR Sports. Sunday night’s game if played will be back on KCCR. The schedule is:

Norfolk and Sioux Falls West – 5:00 – Saturday

Jackson – 9:30 AM – Sunday

Quarterfinal – 5:00 – Sunday

Semifinal and Championship – 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM – Monday
