With Keystone Killed, Permit Remains In Place In South Dakota

PIERRE — The Keystone X-L pipeline will not be running through South Dakota. T-C Energy announced Wednesday they are giving up on the project that was scheduled to cut across nine counties west of the Missouri River. While the project is over, Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says the permit will remain in place…

Nelson says T-C Energy never started construction of the pipeline in the state…

The ending of the project also marks the end of a long road for the P-U-C on the project…

While the permit will not expire for reclamation purposes it would open the door for the project to continue, although Nelson says that is unlikely. The Keystone X-L pipeline would have crossed through Haakon, Jones, Lyman and Tripp Counties in central South Dakota.
