Post 8 Baseball Splits with Watertown

A rough first game for the Eights turned into a split as Pierre had a solid outing from Isaac Polak to split a doubleheader with Watertown falling in game one 11-1 and winning game two 4-1.

Watertown’s Jerod Cyrus hit a three run homer in the top of the second inning to give Watertown the lead they never relinquished in an 11-1 route of Pierre. Cyrus finished with four RBIs as Kade Russell added another three in the win. Kale Stevenson went the full five innings allowing just one run on three hits and striking out eight.

However, in game two, Polak was outstanding as he threw six innings spreading out six hits with one an inning giving up just one run with two free passes and struck out four batters. Post 8 jumped out front with an Andy Gordon RBI single in the fourth and after Watertown tied the game in the top of the fifth, Jayden Wiebe delivered the biggest hit of the game scoring two runs to give the Eights a 3-1 lead. Jack Merkwan scored the fourth and final run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lincoln Kienholz picked up his second save in the seventh inning retiring the side in order as the Eights are now 3-5 on the season.
