Election Day Brings Three Local Elections To Pierre, Fort Pierre

PIERRE — It’s Election Day in Pierre and Fort Pierre. Three elections are taking place, the Pierre City Commission and Pierre and Stanley County School Districts. In Pierre, Jamie Huizenga, Todd Johnson, Lucus Solberg and Amy Currie are on the ballot for Pierre City Commission. Huizenga is the only incumbent running as Jim Mehlhaff opted not to run. The Pierre School Board has two seats open. Incumbents Randy Hartmann and Dennis James are running for re-election and being challenged by Bree Oatman, Paul Gioventti and Lindsey Strofus. Two seats are up for grabs on the Stanley County School Board. Those candidates include Mitch Kleinsasser, Kevin Carter, incumbent Shaun Cronin and Kayla Magee. Voting in the Stanley County School Board is taking place at Parkview Auditorium and the Hayes Hall from seven to seven Mountain Time. Voting in the Pierre City and School elections is taking place from seven to seven Central Time at Faith Lutheran Church and New Life Assembly of God Church.
