Trappers Pitchers Close Door for Home Sweep of Sioux Falls

The seventh, eighth and ninth innings were shutdown innings for the Pierre Trappers on Monday as they preserved a 4-3 lead to beat the Sioux Falls Sunfish, sweeping the home portion of the series and evening its record at 5-5.

Brock Rinehart continues to swing a hot bat for the Trappers as he doubled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to give Pierre the lead back at 4-3. After Nick Hamel went six innings allowing three runs on five hits, he turned the ball over to Noah Borwege who produced a zero in the seventh, Brent Bramlet recording another scoreless inning in the eighth and Clay Odenbach shutting the door in the ninth to pick up his first save of the year. The pitching staff only recorded five strike outs in total but allowed just four walks and none in the final two frames.

Head Coach of the Pierre Trappers, Monterio May says all three of those relievers were big…

The Trappers have now won three in a row and May says it’s very important to get back to .500…

And May says it’s a confidence booster for the whole team…

The Trappers do, in fact, continue to play the Sunfish after an off day on Tuesday as they finish two games out in Sioux Falls beginning on Wednesday with a 6:35 first pitch.
