Post 8 Swept at Home to Sioux Falls East

Pierre Post 8 had trouble in two innings, one in each of the two games as they were swept by Sioux Falls East 14-2 in game on and 7-5 in game two.

Sioux Falls jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first as everything fell in for East with three hits to left field as they would bring 12 men to the plate and singled home thre runs on three of the hits in the inning along with two walks and a hit by pitch to bring in the other three runs. Jackson Boe hit a two run homer in the top of the second to extend Sioux Falls East’s lead to 8-1 after Andy Gordon drove in the only RBI in the 14-2 five inning loss.

In game two another six running inning, this time in the second put East out top early but the Eights made things interesting responding with four runs in the bottom half of the inning thanks to back to back doubles from Lincoln Kienholz and Cade Hinkle driving in three of the four runs. Sioux Falls East would answer with another run in the third before the Eights pulled back within two on an RBI single from Kienholz. Post 8 had the tying run on base but couldn’t score in the bottom of the seventh to rally for a long comeback and fell in back to back games for the first time this season.

Walks continue to be an issue for Post 8 as the allowed 15 walks in hit four batters in two games allowing 19 free base runners. The Eights are averaging a walk and a half per inning through the first six games of the season.
