The Pierre Trappers secured 13 hits in the win on Sunday 8-4 over Sioux Falls taking the first two games at home against the Sunfish.
Pierre fell 6-1 in the Sioux Falls home opener on Friday but came back to win both Saturday and Sunday as the Trappers are now a game under .500 at 4-5. Eric Mast in the bottom of the first got the scoring started with a single and as quickly as Sioux Falls tied it up, the Trappers responded on single by Colin Adams, a wild pitch and an RBI groundout for one of Brock Rinehart’s two RBIs. Rinehart’s second RBI came with a sacrifice fly into center in the bottom of the seventh as Pierre increased its lead to the final margin of 6-4 to 8-4 with an RBI single by Jakob Newman. Nick McCollum went five and two thirds innings allowing four runs, three earned on five hits, eight walks and striking out seven for the win on the mound.
