Bow Fishing Tournament this Weekend in Brookings

This weekend bowfishermen will gather in Brookings for the Bowfishing World Championship and head out in the evening across four Missouri River sections including Lake Oahe.

Registration for the championships will begin at 1:00 but teams had to preregister through Thursday June, 3. The vendor fair runs from 1-5 at the Swiftel Center in Brookings and door prizes to be drawn at 2:00. The participants in teams of four will launch at 6:00 Saturday evening and will return for weigh in at 8:00 AM on Sunday and the awards announcements at 10:30 AM. Side pots include biggest common fish, biggest buffalo, biggest sucker, shortest gar, 21 pound challenge, biggest mirror and biggest youth fish. First place prize is $12,500 for both Big 20 and Numbers. The winning teams will also receive custom belt buckles. The four sections of the Missouri River are Lewis and Clark Lake, Lake Francis Case, Lake Sharpe and Lake Oahe.
