The Stanley County Buffaloes are sending 13 athletes to Spearfish on Friday and Saturday for the Class A State Track and Field Meet.
The Buffs have a split of boys and girls qualifying for the weekend with seven girls and eight boys. Shantay Waldron, Trey Frost, Nathan Cook and Tracy Nielsen are the four seniors competing in their final meet of their high school career.
Head coach of the Stanley County Buffaloes, Matthew VanZee, says without having a season last year the beginning of the year was just to get the athlete’s feet wet…
VanZee says while Nathan Cook and Tracy Nielson were consistently improving from meet to meet, the runners were getting faster as well…
VanZee says these seniors are more than just seniors, they are also the team leaders…
And VanZee says he’s looking for the kids to get medals over the weekend…
