Lightning Delay Breaks Trappers Momentum, Fall Big to Hastings

The Pierre Trappers scored seven runs in the bottom of the first on Wednesday evening against the Hastings Sodbusters but a lightning delay turned the game upside down and the Sodbusters won a lopsided game to even the series with a 23-9 score.

In that first inning the Trappers only had two hits on their seven runs which included a bases clearing three run double, but walks and errors mounted for the majority of the inning for Hastings. However, the pitching staff was able to settle in and allow just two more runs on four hits in the next eight innings. Pierre on the other side, committed seven errors in the ball game as Hastings had 12 hits for the Sodbusters to do their damage. Hastings had 22 of the 23 runs by the fifth inning.

The three game set will conclude on Thursday with first pitch at 7:05 at Hyde Stadium.
