Griffin Park Getting New Skate Park

PIERRE — The Pierre City Commission has approved a new skate park for Griffin Park. Feared lost with construction of a new municipal pool, Parks Director Tom Farnsworth says it was the community who pushed for the skate park’s survival…

The plan will move the park to the east of Capitol Creek. The current park has been in place since 2004 and a completely new facility will be built…

The new park will be 50 by 100 feet. The park replacement was set for in 2023, but public input prompted officials to look into replacing the park sooner…

Officials considered moving the current equipment, but that was not feasible due to possible damage when moving the park and wear and tear from age. The cost of the park is just over 101-thousand dollars and since it was not a part of the 2021 Park budget will require a budget supplement at the end of the fiscal year.
