Home Opener Needs Extras, Trappers Win on Walk-off Error

The Pierre Trappers opened up the 2021 season saw a home opener unlike any other in its other three years of existence, with a win. The Trappers walk-offed on an error in the bottom of the 11th to beat the Hasting Sodbusters 5-4.

Pierre went up 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot from Kaiden Cardoso and added another run in the fifth to go up 2-0. However, a run in the eighth and ninth by the Sodbusters tied the game and sent the opener into extras. Both in the 10th and 11th, the Sodbusters would score a run but the Trappers answered back with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th and in the 11th, Jakob Newman hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4-4 before Tyler Skelton reached on an infield error to walk off the opening game of the season.

Head Coach of the Pierre Trappers, Monterio Bey says this first game of the year was electric…

It’s only game one, but this type of a win can lead to confidence going forward according to Bey…

And Bey says you just need to put the ball in play…

The Trappers will continue its series with Hastings on Wednesday with another 7:05 start at Hyde Stadium.
