Trappers Rework Coaching Staff Prior to Season Beginning

Monterio Bey received a call two weeks prior to the season beginning from the Pierre Trappers head coach, Seth McLemore asking if he would be willing to take the head coaching duties. Bey was supposed to be McLemore’s assistant but because McLemore accepted a full time job which would keep him from coming to Pierre this summer, Bey agreed to it and was then offered the head job from Trappers General Manager Kelcy Nash. Bey will technically become the third Trappers coach in its history but only the second during the summer season.

Bey comes from Helicon, Alabama as he’s currently the head baseball coach at Herber Springs High School but was the director of player development at the University of Central Arkansas. Bey says not a lot changes heading into the season except extra preparation…

Bey says it’s a blessing to be able to be the Trappers coach…

And Bey says his biggest thing for these guys is to compete…

The Trappers begin the season on Tuesday with the home opener at Hyde Stadium.
