Pierre Baseball Hosts Region as Three Seed Faces Rapid City Central in First Round

The Pierre Governor baseball team took the three seed in the Class A State tournament allowing the Governors to stay at home in the comfort at Hyde Stadium for the Region tournament. Saturday, Pierre faces Rapid City Central in the first round for the fifth time this season.

Yankton and Brandon Valley will play in the second game of the day. Pierre beat Yankton in their meeting earlier in the season in Sioux Falls but the doubleheader against Brandon Valley was rained out.

Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Steve Gray says being at home in the Region tournament has been the goal from the beginning…

Pierre is 4-0 against Central with a doubleheader sweep coming in both Rapid City and Pierre. The Govs have hit the ball well against the Cobblers through the four games but Gray says you can’t overlook them…

And Gray says they need to get off to a good start and set the tone for the entire day…

Game times are scheduled for 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00. Pierre will face Rapid City Central at 12:00 with an 11:40 pregame and if Pierre wins they will face the winner of Yankton and Brandon Valley at 4:00. You can listen to the Pierre games on Today’s KCCR, todayskccr.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Greg Dean on the call.
