Governor Kristi Noem Adds Letter Supporting Re-bid Of Pierre/Watertown EAS Contract To Docket

PIERRE — Governor Kristi Noem has added her name and ink to a long line of elected officials hoping the United States Department of Transportation will rebid the Essential Air Service contract for air service to Pierre and Watertown. Noem’s letter to US DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg says it’s inconsistent to reject SkyWest Airlines bid when the Biden Administration has announced a two-point-five trillion dollar national infrastructure package. Pierre mayor Steve Harding says the docket is getting full of documents…

Harding says the discussions have been cordial….

Noem’s letter further states that the change could reduce economic development in Pierre and Watertown, putting jobs, small business and growth in the cities and surrounding regions at risk.
