Pierre School District Planning For “Normal” 2021-22 School Year

PIERRE — The clock is ticking on the 2020-2021 school year in the Pierre School District. Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says while the number of Covid-19 cases in the District was down to three as of Monday the District will hold current pandemic policy until the last school bell rings…

That would include no masking mandate, if infection numbers remain low and vaccination numbers continue to climb. Glodt says not every change brought about by the pandemic ended up being bad…

Board member Joan Adam says the news that Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine has been approved for children 12 to 17 years old will help the District try and hit the goal of opening school in the fall as normal as possible…

Glodt says the District has been working with Avera Health in the last few weeks to establish a vaccine clinic at Georgia Morse Middle School for students in fifth to twelfth grade. An email was sent to families Monday night about the clinic but details have not been finalized.
