Governors Sweep Sturgis behind Getz Complete Game Shutout

The Pierre Governors received a complete game shutout by Brady Getz in game two of a sweep of the Sturgis Scoopers in a 8-5 and 4-0 doubleheader on Sunday.

Getz allowed just five base runners on two hits in the second game, and only two men were left stranded in the seven shutout innings for Pierre. Gary Nedved drove in two runs on a double to open up the scoring for Pierre in the bottom of the fourth as the Govs were comfortable in the lead.

In the first game, though, Pierre trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third before Andy Gordon had a two out, two RBI double to pull the Governors within one. The Govs took advantage of three errors in the fourth to take the lead in a six run inning finishing off with a Bennett Dean two RBI single. Dean picked up his second save of the season in the game one win.

Pierre will end the regular season next Friday and Saturday, both at home against Washington and Lincoln. All four games can be heard on Today’s KCCR, todayskccr.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Greg Dean on the call.
