The Governors have been home just twice so far in the 2021 season but after this weekend, the baseball team will enjoy home cooking for the stretch run of the season. This weekend, on Friday and Saturday, the Pierre Governors will be facing Roosevelt and then Yankton and O’Gorman on Saturday.
The Governors are coming into the weekend at 10-2 and have won five straight with a sweep of Huron and Brookings last week. Pierre is in third place in the Class A standings, one of the four spots who host a Region Round. Two of the three teams this weekend though, will be looking to potentially take that spot with wins over Pierre. Roosevelt currently sits in the fifth spot in the standings but a sweep of the Governors would surely move them close if not above Pierre in the standings. O’Gorman, after staring at 1-4 in Class A, have worked its way back to .500 and in eighth place in the standings. Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Steve Gray says last weekend’s doubleheader sweep was a huge boost…
Gray says with Roosevelt, it’s a little unfinished business from 2019…
Saturday’s contest against Yankton and O’Gorman is a look of how the playoffs will lay out, having to beat two teams in one day and Gray says it’s a great test…
First pitch of the doubleheader against Roosevelt on Friday is at 5:00 with first pitch of Pierre vs. Yankton at 3:00 on Friday with the O’Gorman game to follow.
