Pierre Tennis Sweeps Brookings Triangular

Head Coach of the Pierre Governors Steve Steele said on Thursday morning sports that it would be great to sweep an opponent but wasn’t fully expecting it to happen because of the competition throughout the state. On Thursday, the Governors were one match away from two 9-0 victories as they beat Milbank 9-0 and Brookings 8-1.

Against Milbank, the Governors lost just one set the entire way picking up all nine victories. Carter Schulz had his first varsity singles match picking up a 2-0 set win. He did the same against Brookings as well as every Governor in the varsity lineup picked up at least two wins.

Brookings posed more of a problem for Pierre but the Govs won all three doubles matches and took five of the six singles matches. Luke Leingang lost just one game in his two singles matches.

You can see a full list of the results below. As a team, the Governors are back to .500 in duals, now at 5-5. Pierre will be at home on Tuesday for a triangular facing Huron and Spearfish.
