Blake Wagner and Jessica Lutmer are this week’s athlete of the week, both for Track and Field.
Blake Wagner: Blake Wagner had quite the day at the Corn Palace Relays. In his first event, the discus, he earned 2nd place with a throw of 136’6”. With that throw, he is now ranked 10th in class AA. After his discus event, he was able to be entered into the shot put throw and threw a PR throw of 40’10” and earned a 4th place finish. Blake is working very hard this year and is improving by the day. With how much Blake is improving daily, he will be moving higher and higher in the class AA standings.
Jessica Lutmer: As a distance runner for the Governor squad Jessica has had a great start to her senior campaign. This past week at the Corn Palace Invite she placed 2nd in the mile and 3rd in the 2 mile. She managed to cut 50 secs in the 2 mile to run the 3rd fastest ever for Pierre TF Riggs. When it comes to dedication and work ethic, a coach will not find any better than her. She understands what it takes to get to the next level and her times are showing, as she is running personal bests in all of her events, early in the year.
