For the first time since 2019, the Sully Buttes chargers were able to compete in a track and field event after having its first events canceled in 2021. Stanley County competed for just the second time as both the Chargers and Buffs were in Gettysburg on Saturday at the Battler invite.
The Charger girls as a team finished in fourth place in the first events of the season as Stevie Wittler won two events, the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, second in the long jump and third in the 200 meter run. On the boys side for the Chargers, Griffin Peterson finished in second in the 800 meter run while Jesse Schall was third in the shot put.
Stanley County had a winner on the boys side as Tracy Nielson was first in the discus while Nathan Cook was fifth for the Buffaloes. On the girls side Kaysen Magee was second in the 800 meter run while the team of Taylee Stroup, Shantay Waldron, Cadence Hand and Raegan Taylor were second in the 4×200 relay.
You can see a full list of the results below. The Chargers will host the invite on Thursday while the Buffaloes will at the Big Dakota Conference meet in Chamberlain scheduled for Tuesday, weather pending.
