PIERRE — City leaders in both Pierre and Watertown are reacting to the U-S Department of Transportation’s decision to select Denver Air Connection for the next Essential Air Service contract to serve both cities. Pierre Mayor Steve Harding says the announcement, a mere 90 minutes prior to the start of the Pierre City Commission meeting, was a surprise…
Harding says while not preferred, at least Pierre will maintain commercial air service…
Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron is also working to see if a reversal of the US-DOT decision is possible…
Watertown will keep six flights to Chicago and six to Denver with Denver flights also stopping in Pierre. That means planes will be partially full arriving in Pierre which may impact enplanement numbers…
Flight schedules and times have not been announced. SkyWest will continue to serve beyond April 30th to June 1st when Key Lime Air, doing business as Denver Air Connection will take over.
