FORT PIERRE — One seat on the Fort Pierre City Council is changing hands while another is staying same following a two-race municipal election Tuesday night. Incumbent Greg Kenzy will keep his spot on the Council with a 55 to 33 win over Brady Gaer. Kenzy got 62-point-five percent of the vote to Gaer’s 37-point-five. With 450 registered voters in Ward I, voter turnout was 19-and-a-half percent. Cronin picked up 51-percent of the vote to Seiler’s 48-percent. Ward III voter turnout was 24-point-two-five-percent with 137 of 682 registered voters making it to the Pat Duffy Community and Youth Involved Center to vote. Heezen says turnout was lower than expected…
The official canvass of the votes will be conducted on Monday April 19th. Barring a recount challenge from Seiler, the new terms for Cronin and Kenzy will begin May 1st.
