Pierre Man Arrested Wednesday After Stolen Car Found In Fort Pierre

PIERRE — A Pierre man is arrested in Fort Pierre after stealing a vehicle in Pierre. Pierre Police Department Captain Bryan Walz says a vehicle was taken from a business in Pierre in the 300 block of West Sioux Avenue just before nine AM Wednesday. Shortly after the vehicle was reported to police as stolen, the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle at a Fort Pierre convenience store. The driver, identified by police as 23 year-old Kenneth Jewett the third, was detained by sheriff’s deputies until a Pierre police officer could arrest Jewett. Following further investigation of the incident, Jewett was transported to the Hughes County Jail on two charges, a first offense D-U-I and Theft of a Motor Vehicle, over one-thousand dollars. First offense D-U-I is a Class One misdemeanor while Theft of a Motor Vehicle is a Class Four felony carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and possible 20-thousand dollar fine.
