Woman Killed In I-90 Crash Near Murdo

MURDO — The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 90. According to a Department of Public Safety press release, a 2002 Chevy Suburban was traveling east on I-90 around 8:30 pm Sunday night seven miles east of Murdo when the driver lost control. The Suburban and a trailer it was pulling went into the ditch and rolled. A 33 year-old female passenger was thrown from the vehicle and transported to a Sioux Falls hospital where she died. The driver and three passengers, a 12 year-old male and 11 year-old and nine year-old female received serious non-life threatening injuries. Minor injuries were sustained by an eight year-old female, 10 year-old female, 15 year-old female and three year old male passenger. The driver and eight passengers were taken to hospitals in Pierre and Chamberlain. Seat belt use is under investigation. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family.
