Department Of Transportation To Start Highway 212 Project Through Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG — The South Dakota Department of Transportation is starting a reconstruction project on U-S Highway 212 in Gettysburg Monday. The project include grading, storm sewer and box culvert replacement, new curbs, gutters, sidewalks, lighting and pavement replacement. All that work means U-S Highway 212 will be closed in Gettysburg from Mannston Street to the east city limits. Traffic will be detoured around Gettysburg. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place during construction. Vehicles wider than 12 feet have to use alternate routes. There will be access maintained to businesses along the construction route. The detour will be in place through mid-April. Informational meetings on the project will be held weekly at the 212 Mini Mall Café in Gettysburg at 1:30 pm during the work. The work on Highway 212 through Gettysburg is expected to be finished by October 28th.
