White River’s Valandra-Prue POY, All-State Girls Basketball Teams Released

White River’s Valandra-Prue POY, All-State Girls Basketball Teams Released

It was a historic run for the White River Lady Tigers as they lost just once all season en route to a State B Girls championship beating Castlewood 57-37 in the title game and finishing the year at 22-1. Now, two of the team’s top players are being awarded on the All-State team. Maleighya Estes received a second team All-State award for Class B as a junior while senior Caelyn Valandra-Prue was named to the first team and is this year’s Class B Player of the Year.

Estes averaged 20.6 points per game for the Lady Tigers while also shooting 50% from the field. Estes also pulled down an average of six rebounds per game. Valandra-Prue finished her senior campaign scoring 27.4 points per game, highest in the state while also averaging eight rebounds a game. Valandra-Prue also was an 81% free throw shooter which was second best among those making the three All-State teams. This all after a devastating knee injury suffered last year.

Head Coach of the White River Lady Tigers, Jared Bouman says coming into the year and off the injury, he and Valandra-Prue didn’t know what to expect which makes this extra special…

Bouman says what makes her so good and tough to play against is how she well she plays on both sides of the ball…

Bouman says the girls are already looking forward to next year and Estes is a big reason why…

And Bouman says it all stems from Valandra-Prue who has been a leader by example…
