Fort Pierre Hoping 4th Of July Parade Watchers “Come Early & Stay Late” To Fight Construction Traffic

FORT PIERRE — Fort Pierre is known for it’s robust, yearly celebration of our nation’s independence. It’s also known for the incredible traffic hang-ups induced from the annual 4th of July parade. Those traffic delays could be expounded this year due to construction of a new John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge. Mayor Gloria Hanson says the city is working to lessen that impact…

Hanson says they have around a dozen food vendors lined up for the Come Early, Stay Late event…

So what is that special conclusion to the annual 4th of July parade…?

Hanson joked about why the city hasn’t tried to get a flyover in previous years. B One-B Lancer flyovers out of Ellsworth Air Force Base are done during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and other special events across the county including this year’s Rose Bowl and Tournament of Roses parade.
