Governors Split Doubleheader with Brookings

The Pierre Governor bats didn’t get a lot of hits but still found away to earn a split of a doubleheader against the Brookings Bobcats as the Govs took game one 4-1 before falling 11-3 in game two.

Lincoln Kienholz had a complete game in game one with ten strikeouts to lead the Govs to a 4-1 win. Kienholz allowed just three hits, two walks and only one earned run throwing 101 pitches on the day. George Stalley tripled home the game’s first one in the bottom of the first inning before Kienholz reached on an error to make it a 2-0 lead. Brecken Krueger had an RBI double to make it 3-0 in the second. Cade Kaiser, after a triple in the fourth scored on an error with two outs to extend the Govs lead to a 4-1 lead. The Govs had just three hits, all extra base hits.

The Governors were out hit 15-5 in game two including a six run fourth on six hits for the Bobcats including a two run home run by Jake Ammann. The Governors had two triples with Kienholz and Jayden Wiebe but could only sprinkle in three more hits in the loss. Jackson Edman was tagged for seven runs, six earned on eight hits through four innings.

The Governors are now 11-11, still at .500 with just four games remaining. Pierre will host Jefferson on Friday in a doubleheader. First pitch is at 5:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
