Team South Dakota Begins National Tournaments in Michigan

Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota’s team of 14-and-under hockey players will land in Michigan on Wednesday to prepare for the USA Hockey Tier II 14U National Tournament, held March 31 to April 4 in Kalamazoo.

Team South Dakota (Team SD) is comprised of 20 youth ages 13 and 14 from communities across the state. Players skate for their local hockey associations during the regular season and then come together to form Team SD for tournament play.

Team SD has played in 20 hockey games since last fall and the players are enthusiastic about heading to Michigan for the national tournament including Cameron Ritter of Rushmore…

Teams from across the country will compete in three rounds of pool play, with the top teams advancing to the championship rounds. A couple of players competed for Team SD last year for the same U14 team. One being Oahe’s Carter Sanderson and he’s looking to have a different result this year…

Team SD will hit the ice for its first game of pool play at 6:30 Central Time on Thursday, March 31, facing the Alaska Oilers. They’ll play the York (Pennsylvania) Devils at 10:30 am on April 1, and the Indiana Irish Rovers at 12:45 on April 2. The goalie of Team SD, Carson Hundstad will enjoy the tournament…

The Tier II 14U National Championship Game will be played at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, April 4. All games are available for viewing online at Hockey TV (www.hockeytv.com).
