Chargers Travel to Ipswich to Open Season

Tuesday night the basketball season begins for the Sully Buttes Chargers girls program as they travel out to Ipswich to face a 2B opponent.

Head Coach Mark Senftner’s crew has just one senior this year, Tailynn Bradford but the young team brings back plenty of experience. Both Ally and Stevie Wittler return for their junior and sophomore season. But it’s not just the Wittler girls returning. 6’0 junior Lydia Hill returns as the down low presence for the Chargers again this season. Juniors Calleigh Chicoine and Caitlyn Birney also bring back experience for Sully Buttes. The Chargers start its season as does every team, looking to make the state tournament, which will be for the first time since 2018.

Ipswich does not have a senior on the team for 2021-2022 and will have to rely on four juniors. However, the Tigers have three freshman and two eighth graders on the varsity roster. The Tigers last appearance in the state tournament came in 2019.

DT Meyer, the voice of the Sully Buttes Chargers will be in Ipswich for the season opener. Coverage will begin around 7:00 on Country 95.3, pierrecountry.com and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports.
