Potter County Hosts Hitchcock-Tulare in Class 9B Quarterfinals

For the second time this season, but with the season on the line, the Potter County Battlers and Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots will meet in Gettysburg in the 9B quarterfinals.

Both the Battlers and Patriots had no problems in the first round as Potter County routed Jones County 52-6 while Hitchcock-Tulare shutout Faith 38-0. Back in the fourth game of the season Potter County used a strong second half to win 44-38 after trailing at the half 24-14. The Battlers scored a last second touchdown to close out the half to pull within 10 and head coach of the Potter County Battlers, Vern Smith says both teams will be looking to limit big plays in the game…

Hitchcock-Tulare will throw plenty of different formations with four different players having thrown over 10 pass attempts on the season with Jack Boomsma lead the way 657 yards through the air. Erik Salmen, the Patriots sophomore running back is 1000 yard rusher. Smith says they need to stay in their assignments…

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 in Gettysburg between Potter County and Hitchcock-Tulare. The winner will face either Faulkton Area or Harding County on Friday Nov. 5 in the state semifinal.
